Cinematic, vintage-meets-modern electronic ballad. Be Svendsen teams up with Danish/Hungarian vocalist Kamilla Kovacs on ’Sleepwalker' the first single taken from their forthcoming album ‘The Open'. It’s a sleek, femme fatale ballad that divinely intertwines folk, jazz, and modern electronic sampling. To achieve an authentic, rich, warm, and vintage analogue air, they recorded a full chamber ensemble & used a vintage ribbon mic from 1939 for the vocals. The track sets a cinematic mix of reeds, strings, and woodwinds to a slow rumba uniquely constructed from the ticking of antique clocks, summoning the atmosphere of a seduction scene from a classic Bond movie. Kovacs anchors the track with percussive scatting, multitracked close choral harmonies, and an ethereal lead vocal, spinning a haunting tale of a heroine lost in her dreams. Be Svendsen is the alias of Danish producer Lasse Bruhn Svendsen, his cinematic electronic sound has taken him across stages across the globe, and whose 2018 debut album Between a Smile and a Tear was met with global acclaim. A landmark Cercle performance brought him to a worldwide audience well beyond the underground. His collaborator on Sleepwalker is Kamilla Kovacs a Danish–Hungarian singer, composer and vocal performer, member of acclaimed experimental vocal ensemble IKI, and a performer with Vokalselskabet GLAS. Her compositional work has featured in productions at Odense Theatre and Nørrebro Teater, and she holds a Master of Music from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen.
