Andrew Means arrives on IAMT Raw with "Octagonal Inheritance," a two-track EP rooted in the raw, deep and hypnotic techno the label has built across its catalog. A veteran of dance music with more than 25 years behind him, Means brings the deep techno sound he has refined in Southern California, shaping music for the part of the night when attention drifts away from the booth. The title track leads as an instrumental, working steady low end and a repetitive framework that leans on atmosphere rather than decoration. "Zirco" follows in the same instrumental vein, holding a patient, looping momentum with minimal ornamentation. Together the two pieces stay stripped back and functional, giving the label its quieter, floor-focused strain of hypnotic techno.
