Nightblade
Formed in 2010, Kidderminster-based Nightblade released their debut album Servant to Your Lair in 2011, followed by Closer to The Threshold and the Crisis Has No Prejudice EP. Along the way, they shared stages with the likes of Snakecharmer, Wolfsbane and Diamond Head. Following a hiatus between 2017 and 2019, the band returned with Ignorance is Bliss in 2020. Unable to tour during the pandemic, they threw themselves into recording, releasing Unknown Territories in 2021 and Hope to Be There in 2022 – completing three albums in three years. That’s The Way You Want It followed in December 2023, with more singles throughout 2024, including their first cover, Baker Street. Their seventh studio album, 5, arrived in April 2025 – their fifth album in five years. Now Nightblade are preparing to release album number eight, Something to Say, on January 22nd 2027, with Harder to Console as its first single.Harder to Console tells the story of someone facing several serious struggles at once – financial problems, illness, loss and grief – while reflecting on a close friend who was always there for them but is no longer around. It explores the feeling of reaching a point where, despite someone's best efforts to help, nothing seems capable of making things better.
