SIOE
Sioe is a singer-songwriter from Utrecht with a Chinese-Indonesian background, influenced by the Laurel Canyon music scene of the 1970s. Indie folk with bluesy influences. She writes deeply personal songs in an intuitive, “show, don’t tell” style. Her English lyrics are metaphorical and poetic, often with a raw edge. Sioe was born in Rotterdam in 1959 and feels a deep connection to the river, its ships, and the sea.In 2022, she made her debut with the album The Waves Of Time, which was immediately named Album of the Month on Radio Spannenburg - Nieuw te horen uit de Toren/Even wat oars and placed third in the Album of the Year category. Three singles followed: Dark, Ache and Farewell Indonesia, all of which have been re-recorded for her second LP. The release of this second album, Who I Am, is on October 3, 2026. She wrote the song Farewell Indonesia (2024) on commission from Stichting Het Wilde Westen as part of the Art and Health Program. Originally released as a single, it is now included in the album version on Who I Am (2026), recorded with a new lineup. She also wrote and performed the song Hands of Time (2025) for the album ‘Nino’ by Hans Brussee & Friends
