Über den Song

Frankfurt-based alternative rock band CHAMELEON COMPLEX will release their second album “Delusional Delight” on December 4, 2026. Three teaser singles will precede the album, starting with “Overload” on September 11. Some albums start with a plan. “Delusional Delight”, the second album by Frankfurt-based alternative rock band CHAMELEON COMPLEX, grew out of songs that had been tried, discussed and eventually rejected by various bands. Songs without a home. It wasn’t until the Covid lockdown that Filip Forster began collecting them, rearranging them and finally giving them a place to belong under the name Chameleon Complex. “Basically, the album is a collection of rejects,” Filip says with a laugh. The Croatian musician, now based in Frankfurt am Main, wrote the songs over a period of more than ten years. What was originally intended to become a conventional band initially evolved into a solo project instead. The strength of Chameleon Complex lies in its ability to change shape. The songs follow neither a fixed concept nor any particular genre dogma. They were never supposed to fit together. Instead, a wide range of influences collide: alternative rock, punk, indie, metal and electronic sounds. At times, the songs recall the melodic instincts of Weezer or Billy Talent; elsewhere, there is the sheer force of Foo Fighters, the atmosphere of Placebo or the experimental spirit of Muse. Chameleon Complex deliberately exists between genres. That is exactly where Forster feels most at home. The Chameleon Awakens Forster’s home-recorded demos formed the basis of the self-titled debut album “Chameleon Complex”, released in 2022. It was produced together with David Buballa at MobuRec Studios. Buballa (Powerwolf, Flowing Tears) recognised the potential of the recordings early on and helped Forster develop the demos into a full album. Friends contributed instruments, backing vocals, artwork and videos, helping bring the songs to life. Delusional Delight: More Character Through Contradiction With “Delusional Delight”, Chameleon Complex return in 2026 with their second album. Once again produced together with David Buballa. Once again without stylistic blinkers. And this time, the album takes the original idea behind Chameleon Complex even further. The new songs manage to sound both heavier and more relaxed, more direct and more layered. Punk rock meets synthesizer textures, indie melodies collide with heavy guitars, and catchy hooks lead into unexpected turns. There are moments for alternative rock fans, indie listeners, punk rockers and lovers of electronic sounds and sometimes all of them at once. The sound has matured along the way. The arrangements are denser, the production bigger and the songwriting more focused. Yet the project remains true to its core idea: making music without first asking where it is supposed to fit. What began as a solo project has since evolved into a full band. Together with Frederik “Freddy” Jeck (drums), Zach Kraus (synthesizers), Giacomo Ulisse (bass) and Martin Fender (guitar), Filip Forster now brings the songs to the stage as well. - The Chameleon Keeps Moving - The name Chameleon Complex could hardly be more fitting. Forster has lived in Croatia, Denmark, Belgium and Germany. Like a chameleon, he repeatedly had to adapt to new surroundings without losing his own identity. The same principle shapes the music: open to new influences, constantly in motion, yet unmistakably its own. Chameleon Complex don’t sound like a band that has found its place. They sound like a band that has stopped looking for one. “Delusional Delight” will be released on streaming platforms on December 4.
